The Challenge
The klantportaal (customer portal) is the digital environment where tax advisors and accountants log in to manage their clients’ tax returns, documents, and communications.
The existing portal had become cluttered and inconsistent after years of adding new features. Users, mainly tax advisors and accountants, struggled to quickly find the right tools and information. The challenge was:
"How can we improve the clarity and usability of the klantportaal so that tax advisors can work more efficiently and with fewer frustrations?"

Results
The redesign introduced:
- Clear navigation: simplified menu structure with logical grouping of tools.
- Consistent design language: alignment with Nextens’ style guide for a more professional look.
- Improved workflows: streamlined processes for frequently used actions, reducing unnecessary steps.
- User focus: tax advisors can now complete their core tasks faster with less confusion.
The new design received positive feedback from both internal stakeholders and end users, with clear improvements in task efficiency and overall satisfaction.
My Role
As a UX designer, I was responsible for research, usability testing, wireframing, and high-fidelity prototyping. I collaborated closely with Nextens’ senior UX designer and product team, ensuring that business goals aligned with user needs.
This project taught me how to design within the constraints of an existing product ecosystem, how to translate complex workflows into intuitive interfaces, and how to communicate design decisions effectively to both developers and business stakeholders.
